There have been stories on the Morning Star facebook page (I recommend it! - faceboock.com/morningstar) of showering under waterfalls and bathing in a Fjord.
There was a crew change yesterday so there will have been sad good-byes and a new crew to take Morning Star further on her travels...and here is what they have to say: Max (Sweden) – SO WE ARRIVED TODAY BY BUS. The travel from Sweden took about 16 hours, but the travel went well and we all had some sleep I think. When we found the boat we got introduced to the crew and had a late lunch at 4 o’clock. The lunch was great and so was the crew. After that, we went through all the safety parts and got to know each other a little better. After a nice dinner was there some a beautiful golden fireworks for all of the lost people in Norway. James (UK) – Great start! I’ve jumped ship from Jolie Brise to Morning Star last night... GREAT ATMOSPHERE on board. Mary (MATE) – New crew, new atmosphere, reunited with my sister and friends and united with new friends for what will be a great race. Loads of competition... really want to do well but not sure we have the right wind... but what comes is yet to be seen. Ruth (MATE) – Never seen so many incredible boats and only frustration is that I can’t visit any of them yet as it is all hands to get ready for start of race. Excitement and team spirit are building on board. Duncan (SKIPPER) - Stavanger is beautiful place and the tall ships make it even more stunning. We have a very central ‘pride of place’ behind the Norwegian 3 masted Barque, and have had many visitors. The excitement and anticipation amongst the crew is almost palpable. We have 4 novice crew who are about to be thrown in at the deep end and quickly learn the ropes. We are shortly to leave with a parade of sail. Then the race. Its all go go go!!! |
