Home of the tall ship Morning Star of Revelation and the training yacht Dayspring
These 3 or 4 night journeys will allow you to discover the quiet and sheltered backwaters of Kent, Essex and Suffolk. We'll be sailing along the delightful rivers of the area such as the Deben, the Orwell and the Blackwater, famous as a base for the distinctive Thames sailing barges. The Walton Backwaters offer opportunities to land on remote, isolated sandbanks. You can expect to see many species of wading sea birds and also seals.
Join Morning Star of Revelation and sail across the English Channel to France. Weather, tide and time permitting, previous trips have sampled the delights of French cuisine in many of the Normandy ports, before heading back to the English coast. These are ideal trips for those wishing to complete the Residential section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
This five day (four night) cruise is ideal for your first taste of sailing a traditionally rigged sailing yacht or getting that Duke of Edinburgh's award residential completed in style. The Solent is at the centre of British sailing and Cowes is its heart. This and many other ports and quiet creeks will be on offer, but as ever we sail by the wind and tide, leaving the final choice to your skipper.
The first Dash will take Morning Star west through the Solent and on down the coast towards Poole. Weather, tide and time permitting you will be able to visit Weymouth and see the Jurassic coast from the unique perspective of the sea. The second dash will reverse the route, ending back in the historic harbour of Portsmouth.
Over the seven days you will sail the boat from the Solent across the Chanel to the Normandy Coast. Here you will sample the delights of ports such as Honfleur, Dieppe and Boulogne before you sail back to the English coast, ending this adventure in the Historic docks of Chatham.
Join our training yacht Dayspring as she sets sail for Plymouth. This is a unique opportunity to gain the time at sea needed to build up your expertise ready for that next vital qualification. Even if the qualifications are not for you, as a member of the team on this two part journey you will grow the skills you already have as you travel west to the Solent or onwards to the south west and Plymouth.
Experience the joy and challenge of sailing through the day and night taking your turn to do watches on deck and cooking down below as you crew Morning Star across the southern North Sea to The Netherlands. Your destination will be the historic port of Den Helder, just to the south of the Island of Texel. You may even have the chance to stop on a secluded island for a barbeque or a swim, depending on the weather.
You will be sailing Morning Star north to join the start of this seasons Tall Ships event. Leaving Texel to the south you will head up past the Friesian Islands. You may have the chance to stop on a secluded island for a barbeque or a swim. You will cruise past the German west coast, leaving the ports of Cuxhaven and Hamburg to the east. Then on to Jutland and the Danish coast. The last leg will be through the Limfjord and on east to Aalborg. The final route will as always be decided based on the wind and tides.
Denmark to Norway then race back to England
The Tall Ships' race takes Morning Star from Aalborg in Denmark to Kristiansand in Norway, then racing across the North Sea to finish in Hartlepool. Our crew for this special event may already be full, but do contact us to discuss any possibility of a place. To qualify for this you must be 16 and should normally be 25 or under, but exceptions can be made. You should also have at least a small amount of seagoing sailing experience.
Become part of the crew and bring Morning Star back South along the East coast of England, from Hartlepool to the port of Ramsgate in Kent. This is an ideal example of the type of trip that will meet the needs of the D. of E. Gold residential. With night passages and the fishing ports of the east coast you will have an adventure to remember.
